About

Columbus Circle Wine & Spirits

Columbus Circle Wine & Spirits has been owned and operated by the Villani family in the Columbus Circle area for 80 years. In 1934, Charlie Villani opened Columbus Circle Liquors at 1 Columbus Circle. That building was sold to make way for the construction of The Huntington Museum that, in time, became The American Heritage Museum and is now the Museum of Art & Design.

As a result, Charlie moved the business across the Circle to a building that was distinguished by a prominent “Coca Cola” thermometer. In 1964, that building was sold, and the Gulf & Western building was constructed (current side of the Trump Tower and Hotel). Frank Villani, Charlie’s son, moved the store to 1780 Broadway, one block south of the Circle, where it did business for 43 years.

In 2007, the third generation took full ownership of the family business and relocated it to its current address at 1802 Broadway. Back on the Circle and across the street from its original 1934 location

Thank you, the Villani family
